About Manijro

I found my way to design through my love of music. Growing up in a house of musicians I started handcrafting my own guitars in high school and eventually enrolled in Industrial Design at RISD with the intention of polishing my craft. Once there, exposed to the broader world of design, I shifted my focus to furniture design and fabrication, and have never looked back.

After school and some world travel, I moved to Brooklyn and worked as a cabinet maker while building my portfolio of furniture, sculptures, objects, and commissioned pieces. I founded Manjiro Design in 2011 in Williamsburg. I now share a warehouse and studio space in Red Hook that I custom retrofitted for me and partner Ellen Reid, a composer and sound artist, our beloved Corgi, Wynne, and my temperamental motorcycles.
